Songbird
“Songbird,” still in process, is my response to Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth.

The photo does not adequately capture the well-worked and complex finish on this painting. As well, detailing is not apparent in the above image so the adjoining blog note is of a face worked out in graphite. The face is located under the Songbird’s beak.
The painting is a much-worked canvas of pigments and waxes. I incorporated some black sand from a remote beach in Haida Gwaii to produce some of the texture such as in the songbird’s eye and human’s hand.
